Scholarship Description

The Knights of Columbus awards scholarships annually. To be eligible for scholarships, applicants must: be entering their freshmen year of a four-year, undergraduate program, leading to a bachelor's degree, at a Catholic college or Catholic university, in the United States; and be a member in good standing of the Knights of Columbus, a son or daughter of such a member, or of a such a deceased member, who at the time of death, was in good standing, or a Columbian Squire in good standing.

The John W. McDevitt Scholarship Fund was established in tribute to the 11th Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, John W. McDevitt, a distinguished educator during his career prior to becoming Deputy Supreme Knight and then Supreme Knight in 1964. Earnings of the established fund provide undergraduate scholarships of $1,500 per year to selected applicants. U.S. awardees and non-awardees will be notified in late May of the Scholarship Committee's decision.
