Scholarship Description

The FMC Skaters Scholarship program was developed to provide financial assistance to ice sports participants and recreational ice skaters that demonstrate personal excellence on and off the ice. The scholarships are awarded to ice hockey, figure skating and recreational skaters. All applicants must be New England residents, high school seniors, and skate at FMC arenas. Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: transcripts; SAT or ACT scores; a recommendation letter from a teacher or coach; a resume of the past four years (including skating/hockey background, extracurricular activities, community service, honors and awards); and a 500-word essay describing a time when skating had a significant influence and impact on their life or personal development.

The FMC Skaters Scholarship program was developed in 1993 to provide financial assistance to ice sports participants and recreational ice skaters that demonstrate personal excellence on and off the ice. The scholarships are awarded to ice hockey, figure skating and recreational skating participants in June of each year. Since the program began, FMC has awarded numerous scholarships to over 450 high school graduates seeking to further their education. Scholarship winners are selected by a review committee and are based upon the applicant’s academic performance, involvement in extracurricular and community activities, as well as their accomplishments and leadership on the ice.
