Scholarship Description

The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) announces an annual student research competition in the applied social and behavioral sciences. The first place winner of the Competition will receive a cash prize of $3,000 as well as $350 to partially offset the cost of transportation and two nights lodging at the annual meeting of the Society. In addition, the winner receives an engraved crystal trophy. Cash prizes of $1,500 to second place and $750 to third place will also be awarded, as well as a $350 travel stipend and two nights lodging.

The award honors the late Peter Kong-ming New, a distinguished medical sociologist-anthropologist and former president of the SfAA. The award will be given to the best paper which reports on an applied research project in the social/behavioral sciences. The research question should be in the domain of health care or human services (broadly construed). The paper must be submitted to the SfAA Business Office no later than November 30 through the online form.The award will be given to the best paper which reports on an applied research project in the social/behavioral sciences.
