Since its founding in 1998, Scholarships.com has had one goal: to help students
find the money they need to complete a college education. In the past few years,
we've become the largest independent online source for free college scholarship
searches and financial aid information. Our mission is to assist students and their
families in obtaining college scholarships and to help them explore a variety of
valuable financial aid opportunities.
The Scholarships.com Difference
The Scholarships.com difference lies in our database and our proprietary scholarship
search engine, which uses a personal profile to identify and match the scholarships
that are most relevant to each student. Our regularly updated proprietary database
allows students to search 2.7 million scholarships and grants worth over $19 billion
in aid.
Scholarships.com makes the search process both quick and easy by using its unique
filtering process and sophisticated relevancy algorithm to sort awards in order
of highest relevancy. Rather than rummage through a list of irrelevant scholarships
and grants, students can instantly view awards that offer the most unique fit and
therefore highest likelihood of success.
Scholarships.com as a Financial Aid Provider
In addition to helping students find information about scholarships and grants, Scholarships.com makes its own financial aid contribution
by offering its members
The Scholarships.com "Fund Your Future" Area of Study Scholarships; 14 distinct opportunities for students entering college based on their intended or current major. For more information about this scholarship,

A Word of Caution
Beware of services that ask for money, offer misleading information, or bombard
you with irrelevant advertising. These can include:
*Fee-based sites that claim to offer exclusive access to scholarships,
or offer to sell you a list of scholarship providers. They are built on publicly-available
information and are not likely to offer you opportunities unavailable from free
search sites. In particular, watch out for services that run a search but refuse
to give you your results until you pay them and also beware sites that "guarantee"
cash scholarships in exchange for a fee. Scholarship scammers bilk their average
victim out of nearly $200, according to the FTC.
*Aggregation sites that add together data from multiple sources
without acknowledging the massive amounts of overlap or offering any real way to
narrow the field to a usable level. The difference isn't in the amount of cash hypothetically
available; it's in the way we quickly and usefully find the scholarship opportunities
most relevant to you.
*Ad-laden sweepstakes and contest sites that are light on scholarships
and heavy on advertisements. These sites will gather your personal information and
use it to bombard you with marketing proposals. They use scholarship offers to hook
you, but the rewards are small and few. Such sites are marked by numerous advertisements
positioned on each side, and sometimes right in the middle, of the "scholarship"
description.
