The Bogalusa Scholarship Fund

The Fund for Bogalusa was established in October of 1999 as a Donor Advised Fund by Larry and Ginger Paddock through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. The Fund was specifically created to provide seed capital that would act as a catalyst for the Paddocks and other contributors to serve their hometown long past their lifetimes. Contributions go directly toward projects that improve the quality of life in the Bogalusa area.

The fund provides $2,000 per semester for eight semesters to a qualifying Bogalusa High School graduate. The scholarship award is to be used toward tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies and commuting expenses.

Twiley, Marie and Bringier Barker Scholarship Fund

The Twiley, Marie and Bringier Barker Scholarship Fund will award up to five (5) $1,000 Scholarships at the end of every school year. Graduating seniors from the Washington Parish and Bogalusa City School Systems are eligible to apply.

Twiley Barker Sr. and his wife Marie Hudson were pioneer educators in Washington Parish. Mr. Barker served as teacher, principal, and supervisor; and Mrs. Barker served as an elementary teacher and a piano teacher. Of their six children, all but one became a teacher at the public school or university level. The one who was not a teacher became a registered nurse. The family’s dedication to, and their support and reverence for education are known throughout Washington Parish, the state, and beyond.
