Little KnockOuts Scholarship
KnockOuts for Girls (KO4G) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is comprised of female boxers, models and volunteers who raise money through multiple avenues including female boxing events, to provide college scholarships, mentoring and boxing training for underprivileged girls. Our scholarships are awarded to 9th grade girls and these girls are assigned mentors, women who are part of our program and either box or volunteer for us.
Our goal is to get and keep our scholarship recipients on track so that they will be eligible for college or further education, which will help them to become independent, self-sufficient adults who can give back to their community. As boxers, we can attest to the sense of structure and discipline boxing has brought to our lives and we want to share that with young girls.
The only requirement to apply, other than being in the 9th grade, is a desire to do better in school and a desire to be a part of our program as a "Little KnockOut" (scholarship recipient). We specifically choose 9th graders so that the recipients’ assigned mentors will have four years to work with them and get them on track so that they’ll be eligible and prepared for college.
In order to be considered for a scholarship award, please contact us for an application. You will be notified of your award, and the funds will be kept in an account until disbursed to your chosen college or post secondary educational institution.
Scholarship recipients are required to enroll in our mentorship program, which matches knockouts with scholarship recipients. It is designed for ongoing involvement from the time the scholarship is awarded (in 9th grade) until high school graduation or when the scholarship award is paid to the post secondary institution. The minimum requirements include:
- Bi-weekly (every other week) contact via email or telephone with assigned knockout
- Monthly in-person meeting with knockout (for at least one hour)
- Attendance at free boxing classes at least once every three months (we offer them monthly)
The program is designed to be at no-cost to the scholarship recipient, but requires the investment of time and attention of the scholarship recipient.
