In Lincoln's Footsteps
This speech contest seeks to honor the significance of Lincoln's famed Gettysburg Address, reinforce its relevance to the present day and perpetuate the values it represents, especially freedom, courage, sacrifice, dedication and our Nation's purpose.
In Lincoln's Footsteps is open to any high school student who will be in 10th-12th grade during the coming academic school year and is enrolled in a public, parochial, private, charter or home school within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship, professional speech presentation training, and an all-expenses paid trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for Dedication Day 2013 in order to deliver the winning speech at the official Dedication Day ceremony. The winner’s school and/or educators will receive a collection of Gettysburg/Lincoln-related books and a banner recognizing the education entity and its winner.
