Stephens College Psychology Scholarship
Students interested in majoring in Psychology are invited to apply for a $20,000 Psychology program scholarship at Stephens College. The scholarship is $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years based on specific academic criteria.
To be considered, students must register online and then upload a paper in response to the following prompt:
Please write a 5-7 page paper outlining psychological research on the role of single gender education in the development of young women. Your paper must include an introduction to the topic, a description of recent psychological research in this area, and a discussion of the findings. It is required that you reference research related to the topic from at least five articles that have been published in peer-reviewed psychological journals (e.g., Psychology of Women Quarterly or Journal of Counseling Psychology), which should be cited using American Psychological Association (APA) format.
Students must apply and be accepted to Stephens College unconditionally to receive the scholarship. Submissions must be received by January 13th at 11:59 p.m. CST. The scholarship will be awarded to a recent high school graduate entering Stephens College in Fall. Students may not receive more than one program scholarship and are thus encouraged to submit for only one academic program scholarship competition.
The Psychology faculty will judge all entries and determine the recipient. The recipient will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship, renewable each academic year. Additional scholarships may be available based on entries received. The recipient and all applicants will be notified by January 27th.
The scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s account each year, one-half in the Fall Semester and one-half in the Spring Semester. To renew the scholarship, the student must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average at Stephens and declare a major in Psychology.
