Beacon Foundation Scholarship
The Beacon Foundation will offer two $1,000 scholarships to non-first year college students seeking to become future community leaders by encouraging and enriching other people from underserved and underrepresented communities. We are targeting students attending four-year institutions in the Washington, D.C. area with proven track records of exemplary academic performance and community involvement.
Applicant must be a non-first year college student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and meet one of the following criteria in order to be considered:
- Students that come from a background that is absent of a supportive infrastructure (i.e., inferior educational resources, lack of access to adequate housing, etc.)
- Students that lack access to essential technology and information to further their educational endeavors (i.e., computers, internet access, libraries, etc.)
- Students that have limited family or other social support mechanisms
The scholarship amount is covered over the course of the academic school year (fall and spring semester). Funds are awarded directly to the recipient’s college or university at the beginning of each semester in the amount of $500. Recipients must maintain 3.0 GPA and fulfill 72 hours of community service each semester to continue receiving this award.
