Waring Full Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Anthropology
The Antonio J. Waring, Jr. Full Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Anthropology is competitive and normally awarded to Anthropology majors at the State University of West Georgia at the beginning of their junior year. Transfer students are encouraged to apply. The maximum length of this scholarship is four semesters.
The scholarship award (approximately $7,500 per academic year) covers the costs of full-time in-state tuition (a limited number of out-of-state tuition waivers may be available), an allowance for room and board, and an allowance for required text books. The amounts of other UWG-awarded scholarships (e.g. HOPE) are subtracted from this Full Scholarship award.
Recipients are selected by the faculty of the Anthropology Department based upon academic achievement, leadership and participation in program activities, demonstrated interest in Anthropology, and potential for using anthropological perspectives in future careers. The decisions of the faculty in this matter are final. For full information, including application and referee forms, please contact Dr. Ray Crook. Application deadlines are set annually, normally during February.
