AIAA Foundation Graduate Award

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation, in conjunction with AIAA Technical Committees (TCs), is seeking applications for the AIAA Foundation Graduate Awards.

These awards are intended for graduate-level students who indicate by their approved department research an interest in any of the areas listed beginning on page two of the AIAA Foundation Graduate Awards application. The purpose of this program is to provide awards to qualified students actively participating in these specific research endeavors as part of their graduate studies. These endeavors include master’s or doctoral thesis research and master’s (non-thesis option) research projects.

The objective of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics. The Institute encourages: original research; furthers the dissemination of new knowledge; fosters the professional development of those engaged in scientific and engineering activities; improves public understanding of the profession and its contributions; fosters education in engineering and science; promotes communication among engineers and scientists, as well as other professional groups; and stimulates outstanding professional accomplishments. Funding is provided through the AIAA Foundation, the nonprofit educational arm of the AIAA. The AIAA Foundation Graduate Award program was established to promote graduate student and university research interest in technical fields.

The award program provides $5,000 and $10,000 awards annually. College graduate students, pursuing Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degrees and conducting university department approved research associated with the specific disciplines outlined on the following page, are eligible. These awards are nonrenewable; that is, a selected candidate may receive the award only once. The exception is the Guidance, Navigation, and Control Award (paragraph 4 under “Areas of Specialization”).
