The American Express Scholarship

Administered through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF), this program was founded by American Express in 1994 and designed specifically for current lodging employees and their dependents. Endowed with more than $500,000, the fund has awarded more than $215,000 in scholarships to approximately 200 students. Baccalaureate majors will receive $2,000 (full-time) and $1,000 (part-time) awards while associate majors will receive $1,000 (full-time) and $500 (part-time) awards.

Eligibility Criteria
- Enrolled full- or part-time in an undergraduate degree granting program.
- Must be working a minimum of 20 hours per week at a AH&LA member hotel with at least 12 months' hotel experience OR be a dependent of a qualified employee and have past employment in some capacity in the hospitality industry.
