Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program

Over the past twenty years, the Robert Bosch Foundation has enabled over 300 young American professionals to acquire an in-depth understanding of the political, economic, and cultural environment of Germany and Europe through an intensive nine-month work and study fellowship program. The program consists of three seminars on German and European issues and two work phases, during which fellows complete executive-level internships in major German institutions, including the Federal Government, the Federal Parliament, headquarters of private corporations, think-tanks, and major German media and cultural organizations. Up to eight months of German language training in the U.S. and Berlin is provided to fellows before the start of the program in September. For the nine-month duration of the program, fellows receive a living stipend of EURO 1,800 per month. Through their work experience and seminars in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, the Czech Republic, Poland and Belgium, Bosch Fellows acquire invaluable professional experience and develop an enduring commitment to the transatlantic relationship.

Bosch Fellows are competitively chosen from six main fields: Business Administration, Economics, Journalism/Mass Communications, Law, Political Science, and Public Affairs/ Public Policy. Applicants should be U.S. citizens between the ages of 23 and 34 and, ideally, have completed a graduate degree prior to the beginning of the program. Knowledge of German is recommended but not required at the time of application.

Applications must be received no later than October 15 for the program beginning in September of the following year. For detailed application information, please visit our website.

by Mike Sheffey Large classes or small? As colleges look to save money per student, this has become a key discussion topic. Recent studies are now showing that redesigning the typical lecture-type lesson has proved successful in large class settings, boasting higher exam results than those on the old model...but I think it really depends on the institution.
