Anne Trabue Scholarship

Anne Trabue, affectionately known as the mother of women's golf in Southern California, was a noted journalist who wrote extensively about golf in Southern California in the first half of the 20th century. Her contemporaries described her as a woman of gracious charm, intelligent foresight and great patience. She was the driving force behind the organization of the Women's Southern California Golf Association. It was her firm but gentle hand that guided the association's first steps. She served as WSCGA's first President from 1922-1928 and again from 1937-38.

She was appointed as Advisor to the Board of the WSCGA for life, in which post she gave of her knowledge and experience until her death in November of 1957. She also received a life membership in the Los Angeles Country Club for her outstanding interest and activity in the promotion of women's golf.

In 1954, WSCGA honored Anne Trabue by creating a trophy known as the Anne Trabue Trophy. The WSCGA Foundation again honors the legacy of Anne Trabue by creating a scholarship to assist a student who knows both the joy of writing and golf. The student should desire pursue a career in sports print or broadcast journalism.
