AIAA Foundation Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Awards

The AIAA Foundation Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Awards have been established by the AIAA Evolution of Flight Campaign and the AIAA Foundation in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of powered flight. The Awards recognize the Wright brother’s aeronautical achievements and contributions to the evolution of flight.

The AIAA Foundation Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Awards provide $5,000 awards bestowed annually to three graduate-level students participating in research endeavors as part of their engineering/science graduate studies. These endeavors include master’s or doctoral thesis research and master’s (non-thesis option) research projects. These awards are nonrenewable; that is, a selected candidate may receive the award only once.

The objective of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics. The Institute encourages original research, furthers the dissemination of new knowledge, fosters the professional development of those engaged in scientific and engineering activities, improves public understanding of the profession and its contributions, fosters education in engineering and science, promotes communication among engineers and scientists as well as other professional groups, and stimulates outstanding professional accomplishments. Funding is provided through the AIAA Foundation, the nonprofit educational arm of the AIAA. The AIAA Foundation Graduate Award program was established to promote graduate student and university research interest in technical fields.
