The Reverend Dr. Robert M. Simmons, Ph.D. Scholarship Foundation

The Reverend Dr. Robert M. Simmons, Ph.D. Scholarship Foundation is established in honor of the Late Rev. Dr. Robert M. Simmons, academician, Pastor, and Sacred Music Scholar. The goals and objectives of The Reverend Dr. Robert M. Simmons, Ph.D. Scholarship Foundation are:

(A) The perpetuation, promotion and advancement of the African-American ideals through the medium of sacred music and preparation of those commissioned to carry out the Work of Christ (Religious Education).

(B) To help provide candidates with financial assistance to either begin or continue their pursuit in education within the field of sacred music, and/or the Work of Christ (Religious Education).

(C) To support and evaluate those who seek assistance from the foundation.

(D) To encourage the participation and inclusion of all persons from varying backgrounds regardless of race, color, national origin, gender or sexual orientation.

(E) To help support and promote post-secondary prepartion for those whose talents and skills are indicative of a high success potential.

The specific objectives of the Foundation are: (A) To thoroughly examine and rate the proficiencies of those applying for financial assistance.

(B) To provide financial assistance to those who meet the guidelines of the Foundation.

(C) To support both undergraduate and graduate-level continuing education and research in the area of the African-American Sacred Music genre and/or the Work of Christ (Religious Education).
