John R. Cervantes Memorial Scholarship

The John R. Cervantes Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior at Moline High School in Illinois. Mr. Cervantes, a former resident of Moline, died in 2009. This scholarship fulfills a dream of his to repay those who helped him attend college at Augustana College in Rock Island and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign just prior to World War II.

The recipient of the annual scholarship should embody the following characteristics of John R. Cervantes: studious, capable and hardworking; well-rounded (involved in a variety of school and/or community activities); dedicated to others; and serious about earning a university degree.
