Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholars Academic Scholarship

In order to be eligible to apply for this scholarship, a student must be either a resident of the Prospect Heights, Illinois or Wheeling, Illinois and a graduating high school senior or an undergraduate student returning to college, and admitted to a two-year or four-year college or university for the 2013-2014 school year. Applicant must have a minimum unweighted grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 3.9 on a 5.0 scale. Past recipients may reapply in subsequent years.

The following scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming school year:
- Six (6) $2,500 Academic Scholarships: one-year awards for college undergraduates
- One (1) Charles E. Priester Four-Year Renewable Academic Scholarship: a four-year, renewable academic scholarship ($2,500 annually or $10,000 total award) for a college undergraduate

To be considered for a scholarship, complete the application in its entirety. Applications will be scored by a selection committee comprised of high school counselors and community members. Scores will be based on:
- Academic Achievement
- Financial Need
- Community Service and Extracurricular School Activities
- Personal Essay
- Two Letters of Recommendation


Finalists will be invited for a personal interview with the representatives of the Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholars Board of Directors.

Scholarship winners will be announced in May. Winners are expected to attend the Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholarship Awards Ceremony in the summer, provide a photograph suitable for publication, and may be asked to attend at least one fundraising function.
