Karen E. Domingue-Maillet and Rhodia Scholarship

The Karen E. Domingue-Maillet and Rhodia Scholarship may be applied to any accredited Louisiana college or university. It is not restricted as to the field of study and begins with the fall semester.

The Community Advisory Panel (CAP) is a group of local community members who meet monthly with Rhodia officials to discuss issues of mutual concern and to give advice and feedback on these issues. The Panel will serve as part of the Scholarship Advisory Committee for the Karen E. Domingue-Maillet and Rhodia Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship awards shall be used in the following order of priority: tuition and fees, books and supplies; room and board; and commuting expenses.

One scholarship will be awarded to a beginning freshman. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 per year for four years. It is paid $500 per semester. After the first semester, an additional $250 per semester will be awarded to students who maintain a 3.0 GPA or better making the scholarship worth up to $5,750.

To maintain the scholarship, each recipient must submit an official transcript with a minimum 2.0 GPA per semester and proof of full-time enrollment.

If the recipient should become ineligible or fail to enroll for the second or subsequent semester, a one semester grace period will be allowed. During this period, the student will be assessed by Rhodia’s Community Advisory Panel (CAP) on a case-by-case basis, to determine whether the scholarship remains valid or the remainder of the scholarship is forfeited.

In making its decision, the Scholarship Advisory Committee will use the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a graduating from one of the following accredited East Baton Rouge Parish Public High Schools: Baker, Glen Oaks, Istrouma or Scotlandville
- Applicant must be in the upper 50% of senior class
- Applicant must be of good character (as determined by discipline record)
- Applicant must be eligible for free/reduced lunch
- Applicant must be an U.S. Citizen and resident of East Baton Rouge Parish
- Applicant must not be a relative of a member of the Community Advisory Panel (CAP)
- Grade point average (GPA)
- ACT or SAT score
- Quality and depth of essay
