Sumners scholarships are designed to foster and encourage excellence in legal scholarship and to assist students in developing the highest sense of duty to serve his or her community. The trustees of the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation have awarded the scholarship on as generous a basis as possible in order that the scholar may devote his or her time to the pursuit of the two objectives of the program – scholarly excellence and community service.

Eligibility is limited to applicants who are residents of or a student or graduate of a college or university in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Louisiana, Nebraska or New Mexico. Because the Hatton W. Sumners application is due February 15th, candidates must take the June, October or December LSAT in order to be considered for this award.
