Melissa Anne Centrella Scholarship Foundation

Melissa Centrella was a Nutley High School graduate and resident of Kinnelon, New Jersey. Melissa left us in June of 2002 after a 20-year battle with dystonia. This scholarship will serve as a tribute to Melissa’s life of courage and love.

Nine scholarships will be awarded this year to students in New Jersey. We will be presenting three $2,000 scholarships, three $1,500 scholarships, and three $1,000 scholarships. We also have increased the amount of the two awards going to students currently attending nursing schools/colleges majoring in nursing or taking related graduate/postgraduate classes to $1,000. The nine scholarships and two awards will be awarded provided that applicants meet the criteria and deadlines and include all requested information, set forth by the scholarship committee.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Qualifying students will be pursuing a career in nursing, medical sciences or a medical technical field
- Students must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or better, or continuing their education at an accredited institution (college, junior or community college, or technical school)
- Students will be asked to provide a list of community services performed or involved in during the last four years
- Upon final review of all applications and essays, finalists may be called for an interview
