GFWC Women's Club of South County Scholarships

The GFWC Women’s Club of South County, founded in 1962, provides a forum for the individual woman to share expression and address issues of concern to the community. In 1997, the Club established a Scholarship Fund to be used to support continuing education among women with limited financial or educational opportunities. The Rhode Island Foundation manages the Scholarship Fund as a permanent endowment. This assures perpetual support of the idea that women in the Club are committed to helping women throughout Washington County who are working to achieve their education and vocational goals.

To be eligible for the GFWC Women’s Club of South County Scholarship (scholarship amounts will vary, and multiple awards may be given annually; renewable) and the Margaret Louise Fassino Smith Scholarship (one scholarship of $5,000 given annually; may or may not be renewed), applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Able to demonstrate financial need
- Be a resident of Washington County
- Be a woman age 21 or older
- Be enrolled or registered in an educational or job skills training program and working toward your first degree (associate or bachelor's) or certificate.

The deadline for scholarship application submission for the coming academic year is June 1st. Applications may be downloaded from our website.
