HSF/ Peierls Rising Star Scholarship

The HSF/ Peierls Rising Star Scholarship is available only to current high school seniors from Colorado and Texas who participate in selected local pre-collegiate programs. Awards are $2,500 for four-year university or $1,250 for those enrolling in a community college for the upcoming academic year. Selected students may receive up to $2,500 for four academic years for a possible total award of $10,000.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Be of Hispanic heritage.
- Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident with permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).
- Have between a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 and maximum of 2.99 on a 4.00 scale.
- Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the upcoming academic year.
- Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Have residency in either Colorado or Texas.
- Have participated in one of the following selected pre-collegiate programs:
- Boulder "I Have A Dream"
- College Summit Peer Leaders
- Colorado UpLift
- Community College of Denver Educational Talent Search
- CU-Denver Pre-Collegiate Program
- Denver "I Have A Dream"
- Denver Scholarship Foundation
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Texas
- CAMP CAMP
- Communities in Schools
- HSF Peer Counseling Program
- UTSA Early Outreach Program
- UTSA G-Force Student Mentorship
- UTSA Talent Search
- UTSA Upward Bound
