from the competition by showing your commitment to making the world a better place.
Scholarship providers, being philanthropists themselves, can appreciate students

Winning scholarships, whether they are specifically labeled as community
service scholarships or more general contests that might not even mention volunteer
experience as a criterion, can be much easier with a bit of community service experience

Alliant Energy Community Service Scholarship
The Alliant Energy Foundation is offering a new scholarship opportunity to recognize outstanding community leadership in young people and help students reach their academic goals.
Up to 25 $1,000 scholarships are awarded to Midwest students annually through the new Alliant Energy Foundation Community Service Scholarship Program.
Award selection is based on participation in a leadership role in community service activities and volunteer work; academic grade point average; standardized test scores; and the content of a 250-word essay submission.

Bonner Scholars Program
The Bonner Scholar Program seeks to transform the lives of students at twenty-seven specific colleges and universities as well as their campuses, local communities, and nation by providing access to education and opportunities to serve.
To achieve this mission, the Bonner Foundation provides four-year community service scholarships to approximately 1500 students (who are referred to as Bonner Scholars) annually. The scholarship serves those individuals who have high financial need and a commitment to service.

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes honors outstanding young leaders who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet. Their leadership and courage make them true heroes—and inspirations to us all.
Each year, the Barron Prize honors 25 winners nationwide. Half of the winners have focused on helping their communities and fellow beings; half have focused on protecting the health and sustainability of the environment.
Nominations are made by adults who have solid knowledge of the nominee and his or her work, but who are not related to the nominee.

Good Tidings Foundation Community Service Scholarship
The Good Tidings Foundation is a non-profit, 501-(c)-3 public benefit charity that shares the spirit of giving with youth from communities of need in the Bay area to empower them to reach their dreams. We feel that every girl and boy deserves to have the means to achieve their dreams regardless of financial status, ethnic background, religion, gender, or region of living. We created this scholarship award in 1999 for High School Seniors who recognize the benefits of serving their community. We encourage all to apply, but consideration is given to those of greatest need.

Helen Abbott Community Service Awards
The Helen Abbott Community Service Awards honor students and student organizations whose devotion to community service, selfless acts of care, and interest in improving the quality of life for others reflect the life of the Awards’ namesake. The Helen Abbott Community Service Awards is given in two categories: (1) achievement by a college/university student and (2) achievement by a high school student. Each year the Foundation awards a maximum of two $1,000 individual prizes and one $500 grant to a high school student.

JLR Outstanding Volunteer Scholarship
Each year Junior League of Rockford awards a scholarship to honor a high school student who has proven a sincere commitment to volunteerism in Winnebago County. The scholarship amount for the May winner will be $1,500.
To be eligible, you must be a high school senior (male or female) who has given freely of your time to aid and benefit others in the greater Rockford area during your high school years.

Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship
The Kohl’s Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program recognizes and rewards young volunteers (ages 6-18) whose efforts have made a positive impact on their communities.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program. We are pleased to say that to date we have recognized more than 11,000 kids and awarded more than $2.2 million in scholarships and prizes.
And this year, Kohl’s plans to recognize an additional 2,100 kids with prizes ranging from $50 Kohl’s Gift Cards to $1,000 or $10,000 scholarships.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. Samuel Huntington Public Service Award
The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award offers a $10,000 stipend to a graduating college senior to undertake a one-year public service project anywhere in the world immediately following graduation.
Students are encourage to develop their own proposal for public service in the U.S. or abroad. The proposal may encompass any activity that furthers the public good. The Disneyland Resort Scholarship Program
The Disneyland® Resort Scholarship Program – Celebrating Community Service, will award $5,000 scholarships to 10 high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in volunteerism and leadership and who are committed to making a difference in our community.

Women in Service Scholarship
Women in Service to Appalachia (WSA) is pleased to offer a Scholarship of $500 for an undergraduate or a graduate student. The scholarship is intended to benefit students who are involved in community service.

YouthLaunch Scholarship for Outstanding Service
In 2001, YouthLaunch created a scholarship program to raise the profile of youth service and to honor young leaders who are making a difference in their community.
The YouthLaunch Scholarship for Outstanding Service is a non-renewable $3,000 scholarship that honors young Texans who have shown a unique level of commitment to service projects in their community.
