Appaloosa Youth Foundation Education Scholarship

The Appaloosa Youth Foundation annually awards six youth educational scholarships of up to $1,000 each. One may be awarded in each of the six territories of the Appaloosa Horse Club. One be awarded at-large, and one may be awarded to a winner from the previous year in the form of a continuing scholarship. The Appaloosa Youth Foundation reserves the right to vary the number of scholarships awarded, based on number of applicants per territory. The territory to which each winner belongs is determined by the permanent address of the winner.

The check awarded from the scholarship fund will be made payable only to the institution the recipient is attending. It is non-transferable and must be used within the Fall semester and no later than December 31 from the date of award.

An alternate may be designated for each territory and will receive a scholarship should the winner not use his/her award in the period stipulated.

Each applicant must be a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club or the Appaloosa Youth Association to be eligible. No youth who is a member of the immediate family of an employee, representative or National Director of the ApHC or the Appaloosa Youth Foundation may be considered as an
applicant.

Each application is carefully reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the Appaloosa Youth Foundation. Applicant selection is based on scholastic aptitude, involvement in the Appaloosa industry, leadership potential, sportsmanship, community and civic responsibility, and general knowledge and accomplishments in horsemanship.

In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must hold a high school diploma or equivalent certification, or be anticipating high school graduation this year. GPA must be at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or 3.8 on a 6.0 scale.
