Harvard University

Like finances, enrollment demographics and degree options should be considered when selecting a college or university. Those who enjoy a familiar environment may not feel at home at a large state school, and those who prefer the hustle and bustle of a big college may feel unsatisfied with a small campus. Characteristics such as size, diversity and the number of part-time and full-time students may be just as important as the academic environment and cost of a college.

To help you select the school that best fits your future goals and interests, we have compiled numerous statistics about enrollment and degree conferment at over 7,000 US colleges and universities. The following charts contain information about total enrollment as well as enrollment information by gender, race/ethnicity and attendance status.

You can also take a look at facts related to degree conferment and find out whether your department of interest exists at a particular school. If you are uncertain about your post-graduate plans, information about various degree options may prove very useful. Knowing that you have the opportunity to change majors should your current area of study prove less enjoyable than anticipated is comforting. Not all students enter college with uncertainties, but those who do can rest assured knowing that many schools will cater to their diverse interests.
