Simple Solutions Design Competition

We all have household tasks we want to do faster, things that take up too much space, and projects we want to organize. Since its inception in 2000, simplehuman has been committed to designing products for the home that help efficiently achieve these objectives. “Tools for efficient living” isn’t just a catchphrase to us, it’s a philosophy.

The goal of the simple solutions competition is to promote creative problem-solving among students through product design, and by doing so, increase public attention and awareness of industrial design. Students at all NASAD-accredited design schools are invited to participate by designing a new and innovative product, technology, or concept in housewares - to make household chores easier and more intuitive. There is no cost to enter, and there is no limit on the number of entries per participant. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges on the utility, efficiency, innovation, research utilized, and aesthetics of the project. The competition awards a $5,000 scholarship to the Grand Prize winner. The deadline for submissions is February 27, 2009.
