Scholarship Description

The William & Lanaea C. Featherstone Foundation and Coppin State University announce a strategic partnership that will create economic and professional opportunities for students from underrepresented communities. Access to higher education is a powerful driver that creates opportunities for underrepresented communities to achieve economic stability.

Scholarship Details

  • Seven $3,000 awards for the coming academic year at Coppin State University.
  • Awards distributed across the College of Business, College of Arts, Sciences, and Education, College of Health Professions, and College of Behavioral Social Sciences.
  • Focus on underrepresented communities, including international students, immigrants, racial minorities, and first-generation college students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Underrepresented communities: International students, immigrants, Hispanic/Latinx, or other racial minority groups.
  • First-generation college students with economic challenges to higher education.
  • High school seniors, transfer students, and current undergraduates or graduates at Coppin State University.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 and participation in extracurricular activities.

Application Process

  1. Complete the online application by March 15.
  2. Submit SAT/ACT scores (considered in the selection process).
  3. Provide essays outlining career goals and aspirations.
  4. Attend the award ceremony on August 9th at The University of Baltimore if selected.

Eight Coppin State students will receive $3,000 Awards. Students must be enrolled during the academic year of the year the scholarship is awarded. Award winners are expected to attend an award ceremony.
