- The Jane Doe No More, Inc. Scholarship offers financial assistance to men and women enrolled in two- or four-year college degree programs at accredited institutions, graduate education assistance for continuing studies, secondary education programs at accredited vocational, technical or arts schools. Applicants may be enrolled full or part-time, and must have a demonstrated commitment to work, studies or other disciplines related to the mission of Jane Doe No More.
1. All applicants must complete the Jane Doe No More Scholarship Application document in full; handwritten applications are discouraged (application is a fill-able PDF). Applicants should review all submissions carefully to eliminate spelling, grammar, and typographical errors.
2. Qualified applicants must have a demonstrated interest or connection to the guiding principles of Jane Doe No More, Incorporated. Applicants will submit an essay detailing work experiences, volunteer experiences, educational programs, clubs, or organizations they have been a part of that connect them to the mission of Jane Doe No More. Essays should be typed and double-spaced; essays more than one page in length cannot be considered. Appropriate connections may include, but are not limited to: coursework in criminal justice, women's studies, law, victim's rights, social services, counseling; work or volunteer experience in law enforcement, legal aid, victim's advocacy groups, women’s centers or shelters; active involvement with campus or community support groups, advocacy initiatives, personal safety programs.
3. Applicants must submit a single, short paragraph or statement detailing their current or intended major, and projected post-graduation career plans.
4. Each applicant must submit two, one-page letters of reference; at least one reference must be from a current teacher or professor.
5. All applicants must submit proof of enrollment (dated transcript, dated bill, dated acceptance letter), and proof of academic standing (dated transcript). Applicants must meet a minimum GPA of 2.75
6. All applications must be received in our office no later than February 8th. All materials should arrive in one packet with the applicant's name clearly visible on each page. Official transcripts will be accepted directly from individual academic institutions; applications will not be considered until transcripts are received.
7. A personal interview may be required at the discretion of the scholarship committee, and may be done by one or more committee members in person, by phone or via Skype.
The Jane Doe No More Scholarship will be awarded during our annual Dr. Henry C. Lee Award and Recognition Dinner on March 22nd. The event takes place at The Waterview in Monroe, CT. Award winners will be notified no later than March 8th and should plan to attend the Dr. Henry C. Lee Award and Recognition Dinner.
Recipients of the Jane Doe No More, Inc. scholarship are required to submit proof of acceptance and registration at the institution named in the scholarship application in a timely manner. Scholarship payment will be made directly to the award winner's academic institution. Failure to attend the university, college or vocational program will result in cancellation of the scholarship award. The forfeited award may be granted to another scholarship applicant, at the sole discretion of Jane Doe No More, Inc.
Jane Doe No More, Inc. reserves the right to publish winners' names and photographs on our website, in our newsletter, in our Twitter feed, and in all promotional materials.
