  • As an expression of gratitude to Dr. Alma S. Adams for giving six years of dedicated service and leadership on its Board of Directors, the American Legacy Foundation has established a scholarship fund in her honor. The Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Health Communications to reduce tobacco use among Priority Populations will award a total of $10,000 annually for up to two candidates to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States. The scholarship will be a fitting tribute to a gifted artist and dedicated public servant who has contributed greatly to the ground-breaking capacity-building work of the foundation on behalf of Priority Populations.

    Eligibility Criteria
    - Applicants will have to supply documentation of financial need for scholarship funds
    - Full-time students pursuing a course of study in public health, communications, social work, education, liberal arts or a related field.
    - Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 for the most recent academic year
    - Applicants must provide evidence of service to a community in an economically or socially disadvantaged setting; involvement in volunteer activities such as outreach, peer counseling to prevent the use of tobacco, drugs or alcohol or other efforts of benefit to a local community should be described in a personal statement
