Sankofatech’s Achievers in Technology (AIT) is a rigorous four-year (three years for current college freshmen) scholarship and mentorship program that aims to produce the next generation of African technology professionals in the United States. We believe technology is not the preferred career path for youth of African descent due to lack of knowledge about the industry, community misconception (i.e., not perceived as prestigious), and lack of access to resources. We aim to tackle these problems through the AIT program. AIT scholars go through a rigorous four-year program that equips them with essential skills and access to a network of like-minded peers, mentors, advisors, and accomplished professionals in the tech industry.
AIT scholars will receive numerous benefits by participating in the program, including an annual $500 scholarship award for up to four years provided the student maintains all necessary criteria for the program and personalized career mentor(s) from top tech companies. Job readiness training (e.g., mock job interviews, resume reviews) and access to a network of diverse tech professionals will be made available to AIT scholars as well as site visits to tech companies, virtual webinars related to career and personal development and the opportunity to work on a project that benefits your community.
Applicants must be entering a U.S. college or university as a first-year student in the academic year the scholarship is awarded and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a tech career (ie. Software Engineering, Product Management, Data Science, Information Security, Project/Program Management, Networking, Database Administration, etc.). Must be of African descent and be able to show financial need. For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
