The Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation supports young adults with learning differences by awarding scholarships toward obtaining a degree in a STEM field. The financial support that we provide may be used towards tuition, books, testing, tutoring, assistive technology, or any other resource that students require to obtain accommodations and navigate an often highly stressful and challenging learning environment.
Scholarship Details
- Provides funds for tuition, books, testing, tutoring, and assistive technology
- Open to students pursuing degrees in STEM fields
- Includes a Mentorship Program for freshman year success
- Supports students with learning challenges like dyslexia
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to high school students or graduates attending an accredited undergraduate, technical school, or community college in the United States
- Graduate students are not eligible
- Must pursue a degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math)
- Must have a documented learning challenge, such as dyslexia or a similar reading/language-based disability
- Conditions like ADHD or autism without a dyslexia diagnosis do not qualify
Application Process
- Provide a personal email address (not a school email).
- Submit documentation of your learning challenge, such as a 504 plan, IEP, or a one-page letter from a teacher or counselor (new applicants only).
- Upload your most recent transcript showing the previous term’s classes (official or unofficial).
- Provide a recommendation letter from a teacher, counselor, school personnel, or reading specialist who knows you well and can discuss your challenges and successes related to your learning challenge. Ensure sufficient time for the recommender to submit the letter if uploading on your behalf.
