The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is pleased to administer the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship for Pennsylvania residents attending a Pennsylvania medical school as a second- or third-year student. To financially assist Pennsylvania residents enrolled in a Pennsylvania medical school, the Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance established the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship (AMES) Fund in April of 2000. The Alliance ceased in existence in June 2019; however their legacy and commitment to the education of medical students continues through this scholarship.
To be eligible for the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship, applicants must: be a United States Citizen; be a resident of Pennsylvania for at least 12 months before registering as a medical student (not including time spent attending a Pennsylvania undergraduate/graduate school); be a second- or third-year medical student when applying; be enrolled full time in an accredited Pennsylvania medical school; and be a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and county medical society (membership is free). Applications run January 1-February 28.
