Scholarship Description

Bell Scholarships are merit-based scholarships intended to enhance recruitment efforts for academically talented students in designated geographic areas pursuing undergraduate science-related degrees in the College of Engineering or the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (at the University of Michigan). Scholarships are funded by The Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Charitable Trust, held outside the University of Michigan until July 30, 2026, and administered by the Trustee of the Trust in cooperation with the University of Michigan.

To be eligible for the Bell Scholarships, applicants must: have graduated from high school with a grade-point average of at least 3.0; be residents of Virginia, applicable counties in Michigan, a graduate of New Trier High School, a graduate of a Chicago school, or a graduate of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora; be a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or another related scientific field in the College of Engineering or the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts; and be a U.S. Citizen or permanent U.S. resident. Applications run from the Fall until the due date.
