Scholarship Description

The Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards honor Jewish teens who demonstrate remarkable leadership and engagement in community service projects that embody the values of tikkun olam – “repairing the world.” Up to 15 recipients will be awarded $36,000 each to further their project or for their education. Eligible candidates are teens (13-19 years old) who self-identify as Jewish, live in the United States, and who are not compensated for their work. This is open to any grade in school, as long as the applicant fits within the age group. Projects may focus on the Jewish or general community.

Project Criteria: Application must focus on a single project; Candidates must have a leadership role - either in initial project creation or significant and impactful contribution; The project does not have to serve the Jewish community; The project must be able to demonstrate impact over time.

Projects may have any focus, from raising money, to hands-on interactions, to larger systemic-change initiatives. Projects can have a local, national, or global focus benefiting the Jewish or general community. Applicants can create a new project or contribute to an established initiative if they demonstrate a current, significant leadership role in an existing organization or project. The application evaluation process is complete by the end of June, when applicants and nominators will be informed of the awardees.
