Scholarship Description

The Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund Scholarship supports students pursuing careers in information and records management. This scholarship is designed for those enrolled in programs related to records management, governance, archiving, or academic library studies. It aims to assist students residing in the Southwest U.S. region or Canada who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to the field.

Scholarship Details

  • Award amounts up to $2,000 for bachelor's or graduate students; up to $1,000 for associate degree students
  • Funds can be used for tuition, fees, and books
  • Scholarships are disbursed upon proof of enrollment and submission of receipts
  • Applicants are notified of awards by July 15 each year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen
  • Must reside in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Canada
  • Must be pursuing a degree in records management/governance, archiving, or academic library studies
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students

Application Process

  1. Download and complete the scholarship application form from the ALHEF website
  2. Write a 200–300 word essay on how your education will benefit your career in records and information management and add value to an organization
  3. Obtain three letters of recommendation from employers, instructors, or qualified individuals
  4. Provide a copy of your most recent transcript and degree plan
  5. Mail the completed application and all required documents to the address provided on the application form by May 1
