Over the course of my life I have faced many adversities. I can pinpoint two distinct times. Losing my father at young age and moving across the US. My mom couldn’t afford to take care of me and my two brothers after my father passed. So we moved from California to Florida. Most of my mother’s family lives in Florida. Helping my mom get back on her feet became my focus. Then I realize education is the key to making a better life for me and my mom. Though, the odd are against me, I am even more determine to complete this Journey. Therefore, I am applying for this scholarship because it will help my mother with paying for tuition and other college expenses. This is the right direction for me to achieving my goals and jump starts my college education. This will also allow me to take the time to work on improving my community through volunteering and exploring different ways to help others. I am looking to major in criminal justice.
