  • The Ron Brown Scholar Program (RBSP) honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year). High school senior applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The highest duty of every citizen is public and community service. The benefactors of higher education reflect the fruits of community investors and stakeholders that planted and cultivated seeds on fertile soil to which now has become obligatory to maintain by the return of their time, talents, and treasures.

ACT Class Action Lawsuit: $16 Million Settlement for Students with Disabilities

ACT, Inc., the college admissions testing company, has agreed to pay out $16 million to 65,728 California students with disabilities to settle a class-action lawsuit. The class-action federal lawsuit filed in California in 2018 alleged that ACT, Inc. violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act by disclosing test-takers' disability status to colleges and scholarship organizations on score reports, and denied certain examinees with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in its Educational Opportunity Service.
