Each year Richie's Spirit Foundation awards $5,000 in college scholarships to three graduating high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, and initiative in school and community affairs and merit academic achievement.
Applicants will complete an application form including a two part essay responding to the following prompts: "Briefly describe a significant challenge you have faced in your life.", "Describe how you overcame this challenge." and "Tell us how it has shaped you as an individual."
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident currently enrolled in a U.S. - accredited high school who will graduate in the spring of the year the scholarship is awarded who plans to attend a vocational school, community college, or four-year college full-time during the academic year following their high school graduation.
Applicant must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) and must have taken challenging courses throughout their high school career and demonstrated strong leadership roles within their community.
