• The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is excited to announce our 22nd Annual Student Essay Contest. This year, we are deeply interested in hearing what students think about the benefits and challenges of a non-violent, democratic society. There are four divisions: 5th – 6th grade, 7th – 8th, 9th-10th, and 11th – 12th. Prizes range from $50 - $1000, thanks to a generous sponsorship by Stella Nova.

  This is an excellent opportunity for young people to comment on the current world as they see it and support the civic engagement that is necessary for a functioning democracy. As stated by author Nicole Hemmer in an interview for the Washington Post, we need to make the case for why we want a democratic society if we hope to defend it against current challenges.
