Scholarship Description

To be eligible for a Dolphin Scholarship Foundation award, applicants must: be a dependent of a current member or former member of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force; be a high school senior or be currently enrolled as a student in a college or an accredited vocational or technical institute; be unmarried and under the age of 24 at the time of the application deadline; and intend to or be enrolled as a full-time student working toward an associate's or baccalaureate degree at a two or four year accredited university or college, or be working toward vocational/technical certification at an accredited institute. Scholars attending any Military Service Academy are ineligible for the Dolphin Scholarship.

The selection process is blind and made solely on the qualifications of the applicant from the information provided on the application and required supporting documents. Selection of Student Dolphin Scholars is determined by evaluating the following criteria: academic proficiency, extracurricular activities, community service, three references (at least one providing non-academic insight on applicant), and a student essay. Although not a part of the actual selection process, financial need is considered once all financial aid assistance for an applicant has been determined. To receive Dolphin Scholarship funds, a student must have unmet financial need.
