The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) awards the Howard P. Rawlings Educational Assistance Grant to in-state Maryland undergraduate students and high school seniors who demonstrate financial need. Up to $3,000 may be awarded per student per academic year.
Scholarship Details
- Renewable for up to 4 years
- Awards will be offered annually until funds are exhausted
- May only be applied to Maryland schools except in special cases
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be eligible for in-state tuition in Maryland
- Demonstrate financial need
- High school senior or full-time undergraduate at an eligible Maryland school
Application Process
- Complete the FAFSA (or the State Financial Aid Application for Undocumented Students through the MHEC One-App portal)
- List at least one Maryland college on the FAFSA or MHEC One-App and submit either form before the deadline
- If MHEC requires for additional documentation for your application, submit it through your MDCAPS account before the deadline
- Maintain full-time status and good standing at your institution to remain eligible for the renewable award
Deaf and hearing-impaired students may, in special circumstances, be eligible to apply the Howard P. Rawlings Educational Assistance Grant to tuition at an out-of-state institution if their out-of-state school offers support not provided at any Maryland school.
