All admitted students are automatically considered for scholarships. In most instances, the application for admission, including the required essay, is sufficient for award consideration. Any supplemental documents required for particular scholarships will be provided on our site. Scholarship selection criteria vary. Satisfying the initial criteria listed does not guarantee that a student will receive an award. First-year scholarships are awarded to a limited number of incoming first-year students based on grade point average, class rank, standardized test scores or similar criteria.
The MSU Michigan Resident Scholarship designates award levels for in-state students based on high school GPA at the end of junior year. In-state students who apply to MSU as a freshman are automatically considered. Scholarship recipients may also be eligible for additional merit-based scholarships at MSU. The number of awards will vary, as well as the dollar amounts (though some can cover up to full-tuition). There is no separate application for this scholarship, as long as students submit their admissions applications by the admissions deadlines.
