  • Last year marked several historic moments for women, particularly conservative women, and NeW has been proud to celebrate that this year with our campaign The Year of the Conservative Woman. As part of this campaign, we are thrilled to be hosting our annual NeW Essay Contest. The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) Essay Contest invites high school seniors and college women to reflect on these momentous achievements and what they mean for women going forward in a 600-750 word essay for the chance to win a $500 scholarship. The essay contest will open on April 19th at 9am ET. We are excited to share that the Washington Examiner is co-sponsoring this year’s contest and will be helping choose the winning essays.

The contest is open to female high school seniors and college students who compete in separate categories. You must be a high school senior or currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution in the United States at the time of entry. Deadline to submit essays is May 2nd at 11:59pm ET. One high school student and one college student will win a $500 scholarship and potentially have the essay published by our contest co-sponsor. Entrants must be willing to have their essay published. To enter the Essay Contest, respond in 600-750 words to the prompt. Essays should address one or more of the questions, but do not need to address all of them. Personally, I'm applying to this scholarship hoping to land every possible opportunity that I find. I was never one to grow up with financial issues, but it's always been a topic for me to have some sort of stress over. I'm a junior in high school who is very excited to get into the college I've been dreaming of getting accepted into. I have a little brother with Down Syndrome who I love and adore deeply. The Corona virus has been hard on our family because of this, which means I'm unable to get a job in order to protect him from coming in contact with the virus. Therefore, I am looking for every chance there is to help pay for my college funds. These scholarships can hopefully help me in the ways I'm searching for.
