Our undergraduate tuition rates haven’t increased in the last five years, while we’ve added millions of dollars in new scholarships. Let us show you all your options for financial aid. We encourage you to apply for scholarships to help pay for your NIU education. Scholarships do not need to be repaid and are awarded based on a variety of factors, including academic achievement and financial need.

  NIU was awarded funding from the state of Illinois for scholarships to increase the enrollment of Illinois students in Illinois public universities. These funds, referred to as AIM HIGH scholarships, have residency, family income and other criteria. Requirements for applicants include: be an Illinois resident who attended an Illinois high school; be a first-time incoming freshman or transfer student; be seeking an undergraduate degree; be a citizen or permanent resident; submit a FAFSA; and, not be in default of any student loans. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA for renewal.
