The Sierra Nevada Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is pleased to announce its annual scholarship program for Washoe County School District students. This program is designed to help deserving students pursue their academic goals by providing financial support for their college or vocational education.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarships are awarded without bias based on gender, race, color, religion, national origin, or disability.
- Recipients will be notified by April.
- At least five non-renewable scholarships will be awarded.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a senior at a Washoe County High School.
- Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.25
- Must demonstrate involvement in school and community activities.
- Must be graduating in June from a Washoe County High School.
- Proof of enrollment in a college/university or vocational/technical school is required.
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application form.
- Submit a financial aid form.
- Write and submit a student essay according to the provided prompt.
- Submit two completed letters of recommendation.
- Provide a list of extracurricular activities, honors, achievements, employment history, leadership roles, and community service.
- Include proof of U.S. citizenship and a current high school transcript.
- Submit proof of acceptance/enrollment at a college/university or vocational/technical school.
Essays must be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman or an equivalent font, with numbered pages, one-inch margins and 1,000 words maximum. Scholarship applications for the 2025 academic year will be accepted if postmarked between October 1st through February 15th.
