The AAPT Board of Directors offers scholarships for future high school physics teachers. These scholarships, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, are available only to U.S. citizens attending U.S. schools.
Scholarship Details
- Sponsored by the AAPT Board of Directors
- Annual stipend of up to $3,000
- Complimentary one-year AAPT Student Membership
- Renewable for up to four years
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen attending a U.S. school
- Open to:
- Undergraduate students enrolled in physics teacher preparation programs
- High school seniors entering physics teacher preparation programs
- Must declare intent to pursue a career in high school physics teaching
- Demonstrate academic promise in studies related to physics education
Application Process
- Declare your intent to pursue a career in high school physics teaching
- Submit proof of enrollment in an accredited two-year college, four-year college, or university, or proof of acceptance if you are a high school senior
- Demonstrate commitment to physics education and academic potential
Applications can be submitted online, accepted at any time, and will be considered for recommendation to the Board of Directors at each AAPT Winter Meeting. All applications in which all materials, including letters of recommendation, are received by December 1 will be considered for recommendation at the winter meeting of the AAPT Board of Directors.
