Scholarship Description

To assist worthy students in Georgia with college tuition, the Georgia Mining Foundation was established with a $40,000 scholarship fund to be distributed as individual $500 scholarships. In addition to these individual $500 scholarships, the Foundation will also be giving away $1,000 scholarships to be paid out over two years ($500 a year for two years). High school seniors attending schools in counties where the companies maintain operations are eligible to apply. The total number of awards will vary.

To be eligible, applicants must: have been accepted for admission and plan to attend an accredited college or university in the Georgia; attain a minimum score of 960 on the New Scholastic Aptitude Test (this includes Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math); or attain a minimum score of 18 on the American College Testing (this includes English, Math, Reading-Comprehension and Science); complete required high school courses; have an overall average of 85% or higher; and receive a faculty recommendation (teacher or counselor) and signature of faculty member on the application.
