Scholarship Description

The vision of the Community Foundation is for Monroe County to be a place where everyone has an opportunity to thrive. We strive to successfully fulfill our mission by committing to the following values: stewardship, local impact, community partnerships, inclusion and legacy. For 40 years the Community Foundation of Monroe County has had the privilege of supporting the Monroe County Community through thoughtful philanthropy. As we reflect on this fortieth year of service, we celebrate another milestone of awarding more that $1,000,000 in grants and scholarships to our community this year.

The Community Foundation of Monroe County offers over 120 scholarships yearly to Monroe County residents. Endowed by the employees of the Monroe Evening News at the time of the completion of their buyout of the paper, this fund provides scholarships to graduates of Monroe County high schools and high schools in Gibralter, New Boston, Huron, Milan or Flat Rock who are entering the field of journalism. Dollar amounts will vary.
