Scholarship Description

As servants of our people, we are dedicated to working in a spirit of Suminangwa-Naminangwa, providing quality service and preserving our culture, values, land and resources. We are committed to promoting opportunities for self-determination and self-sufficiency. As a result of this mission, the Hopi tribe offers numerous scholarships and grants. Requirements for grade point averages depend on the student's current status. This is also open to graduate/post-graduate students. This is offered quarterly, so deadlines are April 15, July 15, October 15 and December 15.

Scholarship Details

  • BIA Higher Education Grant/Hopi Education Award: For eligible Hopi students pursuing post-secondary and professional degrees.
  • Diane Humetewa Scholarship: Competitive merit-based scholarship related to Social Justice. (Deadline: June 15th) (*Note: Requires three letters of recommendation: College Academic Advisor, personal reference.)
  • Peabody Navajo Generating Station Scholarship: Merit-based scholarship recognizing high academic achievement. (Deadline: June 15th)
  • Hopi Academic Achievement Award: Merit-based award for eligible graduating high school seniors. (Deadline: June 15th) (**Note: Requires three letters of recommendation: HS Academic Counselor, personal reference.)
  • Education Enrichment Award: To enhance future educational and career goals. (Deadline: 30 days prior to the date of activity)
  • Tuition and Books: For part-time students or those not eligible for other program awards.
  • Standardized Testing Fee Award: Awarded when a fee is required for a school entrance or career certification exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Requirements:

  • Must be an enrolled member of The Hopi Tribe.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Admitted to a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) application and applied for all applicable aid.
  • Meet the required Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for the specific award/scholarship.

Documents:

  • Completed Hopi Tribe Grants and Scholarship Program (HTGSP) application.
  • Hopi Tribe enrollment verification form.
  • Official high school transcript or official GED test scores (one-time submittal only).
  • Official transcripts from current or past post-secondary schools (in a sealed envelope).
  • Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) form (completed).
  • Endorsed Program of study/degree.

  4. Finalists will be required to submit copies of medical documentation confirming their autism diagnosis.
